Kool Krede wants Sean South's belt!

In his fifth and final title defense for 2011, current European Cruiserweight champion Sean South will travel to Denmark this upcoming weekend to wrestle live at DPW’s biggest show of the year, Hardcore Xmas at the Vesthallen in Horsens on December 17.

His opponent will be "Denmark’s Coolest Wrestler" Kool Krede. Kool Krede is Denmarks best and most successful cruiserweight wrestler and a former DPW Light Heavyweight Champion before losing the title after eleven successful title defenses to Victor Dale from Norway. Krede raised eyebrows this year with wins over BT Gunn, who is the current PBW Champion, as well as the Norwegian icon Erik Isaksen.

Even without a title belt around his waist, this has been a very successful year for the 24-year-old – and he wants to crown 2011 with becoming the new European Cruiserweight Champion!

Sean South defeating all odds, still champion!

November 12th marked the fourth title defense for European Cruiserweight champion Sean South. Less than one week after his title defense against La Pulga, South travelled to Pavia, Italy, where five hungry Italian wrestlers were waiting for him, vowing to keep the title in Italy.

Close to the 13 minute mark, the two tag team partners Omega and Nemesi were fighting each other in the middle of the ring with Omega delivering his finishing move Il Marchio to Nemesi. When Sean South realized he was about to lose the title without even getting pinned he entered the ring out of nowhere got rid of Omega and used the situation to pin the unconscious Nemesi for a successful three count, once again proving to be one of the smartest wrestlers today.

After defeating nine wrestlers (BT Gunn, Noam Dar, Chris Rampage, La Pulga, Psycho Mike, Dinamite Jo, Il Corvo Bianco, Nemesi & Omega) in less than one month, South is still going strong, waiting for more challengers to be announced in the next days.

Sean South facing nine challengers in only three weeks!

After becoming the very first European Cruiserweight champion, Sean South issued an open challenge to all European cruiserweight wrestlers. A lot of wrestlers from all over Europe answered to South's challenge resulting in one busy month for the Irishman.

On October 15, South travelled to Newcastle, England, where he wrestled for Complete Revolutionary Wrestling in a four way match for the European Cruiserweight Championship, a match sanctioned by Shooting Star Wrestling before they actually left the UEWA. In this match, South was able to beat the challenge of four of Scotland's finest wrestlers including "The Israeli Icon" Noam Dar, Chris Rampage and the reigning PBW Champion BT Gunn.

From England, he went to Spain where he had to face La Pulga – the wrestler who was originally scheduled to go to Oslo and wrestle for the European Cruiserweight Championship, but got too cocky and lost his spot to South who went on to win the title. South promised La Pulga a re-match, which took place on November 6th in Barcelona. Again, South went out successful.

After three successful title defenses, now the biggest challenge of all is waiting. On November 12th, Sean South is travelling to Pavia in Italy, where he will wrestle not less than five wrestlers in only one match for the European Cruiserweight Championship – and all of them are eager to set their mark on European wrestling and make South leave Italy without the title. Click here to see what Sean South had to say about facing five hungry Italian wrestlers in only one match.

While Sean South is really confident about wrestling five men in the same match, many fear a conspiracy might take place in Italy as it is not an elimination match but one pinfall only – meaning that Sean South doesn't even need to get pinned to lose the title.
To make it even worse for Sean South, two of his opponents, Omega and Nemesi are not only tag team partners, but also best friends. It's the biggest match for the two highflying specialists until now in their young career and both are expected to work together to keep the title to Italy. Click here for what both of them had to say (in italian).
Another fan favourite in the match will be Dinamite Jo who has been Italian Lightweight champion for eight months, winning the title being only three years in the business. After losing the title, Dinamite Jo is now back on his path to success and with the fans behind his back, South better takes him seriously! When Dinamite Jo was asked for his opinion on this match, he had this to say (in italian).
Another force to be reckoned with is Il Corvo Bianco who has been wrestling for eight years now, winning a lot of titles down the road. Il Corvo Bianco is supposed to do anything to win the title as he is very well known in Italy for bending the rules as much as he can.
But the biggest challenge for Sean South is without a doubt Italy's best Cruiserweight wrestler, the reigning Italian Lightweight Champion Psycho Mike who had this to say. Psycho Mike, who calls himself "The Poet Of Violence" is a mainstay of ICW for nine years and was trained by wrestling legend Billy Robinson. Sometimes, Psycho Mike's mind seems to be a bit unstable which makes him unpredictable to any of his opponents and also helped him in winning the Italian Lightweight Championship. But now Psycho Mike feels, the time has come to step up the ladder and become European Cruiserweight Champion – on November 12 in Pavia, Italy!

Bad Bones successful in Scotland – Tommy End already waiting!

Maximum Impact is the name of Premier British Wrestling's biggest show of the year which took place this past Saturday in Irvine, Scotland. Maximum Impact is also, what current European Heavyweight Champion "Bad Bones" John Kay and challenger James "Darkside" Scott from Glasgow, Scotland, delivered on that very show. Much to the dislike of the fantastic crowd in Irvine, the German Psycho was able to come out on top after delivering his vicious Shadow Driver to the brave Scot.

Still, Bad Bones will not get much rest as his third title defense is only two weeks away and leading to the beautiful Barcelona in Spain where Amsterdam-native Tommy End will be waiting. Both have a long history in competing for Germany's wXw for the past five years and have met in the ring on various occasions – their last match took place only three weeks ago and saw the dutch pinning Bad Bones in the middle of the ring. After this match, Tommy End immediately demanded a title shot at the European Heavyweight Championship – and he will get his match on November 6 in Barcelona, Spain!.

Shooting Star Wrestling leaving UEWA!

As of October 1st, the Union Of European Wrestling Alliances and English promotion Shooting Star Wrestling have decided to part ways.

Shooting Star Wrestling has been one of two promotions re-presenting England in the UEWA in co-existance with All Star Wrestling and been part of the UEWA from day one. After not promoting shows for more than one year now and no plans for any future shows at the moment, both parties agreed to separate ways.

If Shooting Star Wrestling returns to active competition one day, the UEWA will happily welcome them back. As England is already covered by All Star Wrestling, we will not be looking for a substitute but rely on All Star Wrestling as our sole partner. At this time, we would like to thank SSW for their work and wish the guys behind SSW all the best for their future endeavours!

As of October 1st, the UEWA now consists of ten promotions from Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Scotland, Spain and Wales. UEWA is always open to aspiring European promotions from countries who are not already covered by the UEWA yet.

Sean South fulfilling promise – La Pulga gets title shot!

When Sean Souths career peaked in May after outlasting three other wrestlers to become the very first European Cruiserweight champion, South knew he has finally found his place in history books. But he wanted more and already finalized a title defense outside of Europe while on tour in the USA only to learn the show and thus his title defense had been cancelled due to the hurricane situation in the USA a month ago.

The anger about his lost opportunity drove him into his match with "Bad Boy" Liam Thomson, who is widely considered one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in the world, and made him defeat the Scot despite the help of Thomsons valet Carmel.

Just this past weekend South’s second title defense has been announced – he will be going to Barcelona (Spain) on November 6 on SWA's very first show back after summer break and defend his title there. His opponent will be La Pulga, who originally qualified to take part in the European Cruiserweight title tournament in Oslo in May but became a bit cocky and put his spot on the line only to be defeated by Sean South. South went to Oslo and eventually became champion, but prior to this he promised La Pulga a title match in case of winning the title. As Sean South is a man of his words and a true champion, he he is going to fulfill his promise on November 6 in Barcelona!

Bad Bones defends title in Norway – next challenger already waiting!

This past Saturday, European Heavyweight Champion "Bad Bones" John Kay – just back in Europe after touring with Big Japan Pro Wrestling through the summer – went to Norway for his first title defense. After a long and very intense fight, he was able to overcome the 6’4" Bjorn Sem and defend his title for the very first time.

Of course, this is not the last we have seen from the German powerhouse as the next challenger is already waiting. James "Darkside" Scott, who has been very successful in Mixed Martial Arts matches over the past two years while still competing regularly in wrestling, wants to use his vast knowledge of fighting sports to dethrone the German Psycho.

This match has already been announced by Premier British Wrestling and will headline their biggest show of the year: PBW Maximum Impact in Irvine, Scotland on October 22nd!

Sean South issues open challenge – first challenger revealed!

On May 21st, Sean South made history winning three matches in one night to become the very first European Cruiserweight champion. After an extended celebration, South now issued an open challenge to all European wrestlers under 95 kgs which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/5YqRMwkZzrE .

As Sean South did call out to all European cruiserweight wrestlers, but especially the ones who were in the tournament in Oslo and were unsuccessful in their quest for the title, "Bad Boy" Liam Thomson was quick enough to be the first one to accept South’s challenge. Thomson got into the tournament on short notice when he substituted for the absent Sonne. Without much time for preparation, Thomson lost in the first round to his tag team partner and longtime friend Kid Fite. Both remain friends after the Oslo-show and as Kid Fite was the lucky one in Oslo he thought about giving something back to Thomson so when Liam accepted South’s challenge, Kid Fite was quick in offering to hold the title match in Liam’s home country of Scotland. On september 10 when Premier British Wrestling invades Alloa, Scotland, Liam Thomson will challenge Sean South for the European Cruiserweight Championship!

As more and more wrestlers accept South’s open challenge, the Irishman is going to have a hard and very challenging second half of 2011. More details on upcoming title defenses when they become available!

Very First European Cruiserweight Champion crowned // James Mason loses Heavyweight title in Germany!

Saturday, May 21st marked the biggest night in the young history of the Union Of European Wrestling Alliances when James Mason lost the European Heavyweight Title in Germany while the very first European Cruiserweight Champion was crowned in Norway.

James Mason travelled to Pinneberg in Germany for his seventh title defense against top challenger “Bad Bones” John Kay from Germany. Close to the 20 minute mark, Bad Bones used his home advantage and came flying from the top rope with a “Ooooh Yeah Flying Elbow Smash” dedicated to the legendary Macho Man Randy Savage to gain the successful pinfall over the The Technical Wizard from London. After the match, an overwhelmed Bad Bones received a ten minute long standing ovation by the enthusiastic Pinneberg-crowd.

At the same time, about 800 kilometres north of Pinneberg, the long awaited tournament for the European Cruiserweight Championship took place at Kanonhallen in Oslo, Norway. Eight of Europe’s finest cruiserweight wrestlers came together to fight for the newly introduced European Cruiserweight title in a one night tournament. After wins over his own tag team partner Liam Thomson (Scotland) as well as hometown hero Zackariel (Norway), Kid Fite from Scotland went to the finals where he had to wrestle Sean South (Ireland). South previously defeated Wild Boar (Wales) and Doblone (Italy). In the end, much to the delight of the terrific Norwegian audience, Sean South was able to beat Kid Fite following a brainbuster suplex and become the very first European Cruiserweight Champion. Much like in Germany, both wrestlers were greeted with Standing Ovations by the fans. Here are the results of the tournament:

Both shows have been taped for DVD release and will be available soon.

On behalf of all member promotions of the UEWA, we would like to thank James Mason for being a great champion. But of course, we would also like to congratulate both “Bad Bones” John Kay as well as Sean South on their success and expect them to be fighting champions. According to the rules of the UEWA, title defenses can be expected in all UEWA partner promotions in the next months, taking both wrestler to Ireland, Spain, France, Denmark, Italy, Germany, England, Norway, Wales and Scotland.

Introducing: B. Cool & Sean South

#7: B. Cool (from Kildare, Ireland, 1.78 m, 77 kg, representing Fight Factory Pro Wrestling)

B. Cools participation in the tournament is probably the biggest surprise. With less than twenty matches under his belt, the 18-year-old’s win in the 16-man-invitiational-tournament was the biggest shock of the year so far in his home country of Ireland, beating the way more experienced Jordan Devlin in the finals. And he is always able to deliver another shock as he already shocked fellow tournament competitor Sean South, defeating him in only his third match at age 16. Due to his inexperience on the international wrestling scene, some wrestlers have expressed their worries about what B. Cool is going to bring in the ring, but considering he is in the wrestling business for only about two years, he knows very well he has nothing to lose but a lot to win, so the pressure is on his opponents. Being led to the ring by his regular tag team partner D. Max, who also played an important part in B. Cool qualifying for the tournament when he helped his partner to beat Jordan Devlin, he is totally unpredictable and wants to use the tournament to come up with another shock.

#8: Sean South (from Dublin, Ireland, 1.85 m, 93 kg, representing Super Wrestling Alliance)

Just this week, Sean South wrote another chapter of his personal history with the UEWA. From the beginning on, Sean South was the first wrestler to show a major interest in the UEWA. Without him having a home promotion, CWN of Germany granted him a spot in a qualification match for Oslo. Only a week before the show, he got injured while wrestling in France, was not able to stick to his regular training routine and had to miss the opportunity because he was over the weight limit. Only one week later, he got a chance to wrestle for a European Heavyweight title match – and lost to the German Psycho Bad Bones. Being frustrated about the latest happenings, South took destiny in his own hands and challenged La Pulga (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKT-wagESFo&feature=youtu.be), who had previously qualified to wrestle for Spain. Three’s the charm and South came out victorious, becoming Spains representative. Will there be more obstacles in South’s way or will he finally get his chance with the UEWA and go all the way to become champion? With the experience of six years in wrestling, having been trained under NJPW star Fergal Devitt and Paul Tracey and having wrestled for japanese promotion Dragon Gate, Sean South is surely a top bet when it comes to winning the tournament. Holding wins over US Independent star El Generico, British powerhouse Johnny Moss and Pac and having wrestled non other than former WWE Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre and former WWE World Champion Sheamus and being a regular for Scottish Premier British Wrestling, Sean South now aims for the biggest success in his career: Becoming European Cruiserweight Champion! Here’s what Sean South had to say:

With all wrestlers introduced now this is the complete tournament tree:

News for May 17th, 2011

Introducing: Wild Boar & Pierre

#5: Wild Boar (from Blaina, Wales, 1.68 m, 82 kg, representing Welsh Wrestling)

Wild Boar is another wrestler who brings a lot of talent to the mat but has yet to get his break outside of Wales. Wild Boar is the smallest wrestler in the competition, but a very powerful one with an attitude. He qualified in a three way match after destroying his long-time rival “Lightning Kid” Mark Andrews as well as upcoming rookie Flash Morgan. At only 1.68 m but an impressive 82 kg and only little more than two years in the wrestling business, Wild Boar was unknown to most of the wrestlers in the tournament, but after watching some footage of his matches in preparation for the tournament, everyone takes this young lad very seriously. After talking to Wild Boar about his chances in the tournament he said he wasn’t quite sure as most other wrestlers have much more experience, but there is one thing he is sure of: He will try everything in the book to become the first European Cruiserweight Champion. And if he doesn’t succeed he will at least leave a mark on European wrestling and make sure, everybody knows his name once the tournament is history.

#6: Pierre (from Elmshorn, Germany, 1.86 m, 91 kg, representing Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland)

Pierre has been wrestling for five years now and has had some major success lately when focussing on tag team wrestling including a long title run in Denmark with his good friend Michael Knight. After Knight has been out with an injury for a while, Pierre decided to turn his focus on singles competition. And he did very well as he proved in his qualification match, where he beat three other wrestler’s including Scotland’s Kid Fite to go to Oslo. Standing 1.86 m and weighing 91 kgs, Pierre has a clear size advantage over most of his opponents and he lets everyone know he wants to use this to go for gold.
The french-born Pierre is a very smart wrestler who can read his opponents moves before they actually happen which makes him one of the most intelligent and at the same time dangerous wrestlers in the tournament. But then again, he knows very well about his smartness and being supreme so sometimes his ego can become dangerous for himself.

With now six of eight wrestlers introduced the tournament tree looks like this:

News for May 15th, 2011

Introducing: Liam Thomson & Zackariel
Following the announcements of Doblone and Kid Fite, today we are going to announce the next two participants including the first first round match!

#3: Liam Thomson (from Edinburgh, Scotland, 1.70 m, 82 kg, representing Danish Pro Wrestling)

When Sonne, who qualified to be Danish Pro Wrestling’s wrestler in the tournament, had to withdraw, DPW office decided to send "Bad Boy" Liam Thomson to Oslo. Thomson carries the name "Bad Boy" with passion and he has a reason to do so. He is one of Europe's finest pound-for-pound wrestlers and – much like his regular tag team partner Kid Fite – is willing to do whatever promises success. At only 1.70 m, Liam is not the biggest wrestler in the world, but with his 82 kg frame he can move quickly and counter every move in the book. Being a tag team specialist and a title holder in Scotland, England, Germany and Denmark with his tag team partner Kid Fite, Thomson, much like his friend Kid Fite, he is one of the more experienced wrestlers in the tournament with matches against TNA tag team Beer Money Inc., "The Man Gravity Forgot" Pac who is a big star in Japan nowadays and TNAs Douglas Williams and has already wrestled in five different countries. Thomson sees the European Cruiserweight tournament as a perfect way to establish himself as one of Europe’s best singles wrestlers.

#4: Zackariel (from Telemark, Norway, 1.76 m, 90 kg, representing Norwegian Wrestling Federation)

Zackariel, previously known as Zack Arild, is easily the most popular wrestler in the tournament. Being the hometown hero, Zackariel just left his dancing days behind and started to focus more on actual wrestling – but still not forgetting about the fans who have supported him ever since his first match in 2007 and will try to help him through the tournament to win the gold. Zackariel, who was able to defeat the much more experienced Daniel Sebastian and T-Jay in a qualification tournament to become Norway's representative, also serves as a symbol for the tournament: A terrific wrestler who is very well known in his home country but barely known outside of Norway. At 90 kgs, Zackariel is one of the most powerful wrestlers in the tournament and with the support of the fans and his fellow Norwegian wrestlers he is someone who can surprise the more experienced wrestlers.

With now four of eight wrestlers introduced the tournament tree looks like this:

News for May 12th, 2011

Introducing: Doblone & Kid Fite
Eight wrestlers have qualified for the European Cruiserweight Tournament in Oslo, Norway. While most of them are well known names in their home country, only few of them have wrestled outside of their home country and are already known all over Europe. As we want all the fans to know who and what they are expecting, UEWA will take the opportunity to introduce the wrestles in the tournament:

#1: Doblone (from "The Carribean", 1.75 m, 72 kg, representing Italian Championship Wrestling)

Doblone is Italy's top cruiserweight wrestler. At 1.75 m and 72 kgs, the self-proclaimed "Italian Pirate" is a two-time Italian Lightweight Champion and a major fan favourite in his home country. This will be the second time, this young wrestler will sail to another country to compete. With three and a half years' experience, the Italian pirate is a force to be reckoned with, as he can use his Jolly Roger DDT out of every situation to finish off his opponents. As any good pirate, Doblone loves to have a jolly good time – and collecting gold. Just this past weekend, Doblone won Italy’s annual "Il Numero Uno" tournament against seven of Italy’s finest wrestlers. As six of the seven previous winners have become ICW Champions after winning the tournament, Doblone may just be on the right path to loot even more gold. And the European Cruiserweight Tournament shall be no different. When asked for his thoughts on the tournament, Doblone had the following to say:

#2: Kid Fite (fom Glasgow, Scotland, 1.80 m, 86 kg, representing Premier British Wrestling)

Kid Fite is considered one of the top guys in the tournament for the European Cruiserweight Championship by many. At only 26 years of age, Kid Fite has already ten years of experience and is head-trainer of his own wrestling school alongside Colin McKay. Without any doubt, Kid Fite is the most experienced wrestler in the the tournament having wrestled in seven European countries and the USA before against famous opponents like multi-time TNA Tag Team Champions Beer Money Inc., WWE Superstar Drew McIntryre, the legendary Marty Jannetty, Kevin Thorn, Pro Wrestling NOAHs Bison Smith and many more. Europe-wide known as one of the finest tag team wrestlers with tag team title wins in Scotland, England, Germany and Denmark with his tag team partner Liam Thomson, Kid Fite recently started to gain singles success in his home country as well and now wants to get his big break. At 1.80 m and 86 kgs, he vowed to do anything to become the first European Cruiserweight Champion. Only few fans like the ruthless and selfish Scot and he doesn’t want to be liked by no-one – something he already proved when he simply announced himself as PBW’s choice for the tournament, not even giving other wrestlers the chance to qualify. Kid Fite has his sight set straight on the gold and will not go home without the belt.

Both wrestlers spots in the tournament tree have been drawn and can be seen here:

Mason on a winning streak – even bigger challenges are waiting!

James Mason is truly a fighting champion. After a slow start, European Heavyweight Champion James Mason continues to  defend the title as often as it is possible to prove that he is indeed Europe’s alpha wrestler.

On April 7th in Grimsby, England, All Star Wrestling featured Mason’s third title defense when he had to wrestle challenger Sir Robin from Belgium. Sir Robin has become a huge star in France lately and is one of the fans favourite wrestlers to boo on due to his arrogant behaviour. With his valet Lady Lory always by his side and not shy to help her man, Sir Robin is a threat to every wrestler. However, James Mason proved again to be Europe’s best wrestler at the moment and was able to pin the Belgian royal for his third title defense.

Only one week later, the UEWA was graced by a first time ever situation, when James Mason took the European Heavyweight title to Premier Promotions for the first ever title defense outside of the UEWA in Potter’s Bar, England, on April 14th. In Potter’s Bar, Mason was supposed to face Flash Barker, a veteran of the British wrestling scene with more than 20 years of experience. This title match was graciously sanctioned by All Star Wrestling. After the match which was described as being fantastic by Premier Promotions officials, James Mason was able to take away another victory and defending his title for the fourth time. UEWA would like to thank Premier Promotions for the opportunity to hold a title defense outside of the UEWA which underlines the importance and acceptance this belt already has gained within the European wrestling scene.

After two tough title defenses in such a short time, James Mason had the option of getting some rest to prepare for his scheduled title match against "Bad Bones" John Kay in Germany on May 21st. But the Englishman doesn’t even think about getting some rest, instead he has agreed to two more title defenses, even though he could be losing the belt before getting the chance to face Bad Bones.

Next, his travel road will lead him to Warrington, England on may 7th where he is going to face one of Europe’s most dangerous wrestlers: the legendary "Highlander from Hell" Drew McDonald who is a true veteran of European wrestling with more than 30 years of experience. Will the fast technics of Mason grant him another victory? Or will the incredible experience and brutality McDonald brings to the ring take the belt to Scotland and Drew McDonald taking over Mason’s booking in Germany on May 21st?

The second challenge was made by "Mean" Tommy Dean, who already fell for the champion in his second title defense in februar 2011. Dean felt it was a fluke for Mason to win the match and didn’t accept his defeat until Welsh Wrestling-promoter Alan Ravenhill and UEWA offices finally granted Dean a second chance at the title. This match is going to happen on May 17th in Cardiff, Wales – if Mason successfully defends the belt against Drew McDonald, of course.

If the belt changes hands on any of these shows, the upcoming scheduled title matches will still happen with the new champion taking over the bookings of the previous champion! So who will be going to Germany on may 21st to face the challenge of “Bad Bones” John Kay – Drew McDonald, Tommy Dean or James Mason?

La Pulga becoming final wrestler in tournament – but wait…

On April 24th at the City Hall in Barcelona, Spanish SWA held a three way match to decide who is going to Oslo and representing Spain. Bad Boy, who defeated Judas Archeron in his qualification match had to step into the ring with La Pulga, winner over Mandril and Big Bang Stinger, who was substituting for Lion Mask who injured himself in training the week before the match. In the end, high flying sensation La Pulga was able to get a pinfall victory over his opponents and qualify for the European Cruiserweight Title Tournament in Oslo completing the tournament.

But only a couple of days after the show, Irish Sean South, who has been an important part in the development of SWA as he had a hand in training a lot of the young Spanish talents, challenged La Pulga through his Facebook site to a match on May 15th. After Sean South missed the weight limit and had to be taken out of  the European Cruiserweight Title Qualification Match in Germany in February and after he went down to Bad Bones in a top contender’s match, the Irish top talent is now seeking for another chance at the UEWA. Three’s the charm, so will Sean South get a third chance to qualify for a UEWA title match? Or will La Pulga deny the challenge? We’re waiting for his answer.

Breaking News – Sonne out of tournament, "Bad Boy" Liam Thomson in!

The Union Of European Wrestling Alliances has just been informed by Danish Pro Wrestling about their top cruiserweight wrestler Sonne not being able to take part in the European Cruiserweight Title tournament on May 21st at the Kanonhallen in Oslo. Danish Pro Wrestling feels sorry about this, but due to unforeseeable circumstances, Sonne had to withdraw from the tournament.

After talks in the DPW offices, Danish Pro Wrestling has decided to not hold another qualification match but instead nominate another wrestler to fill in for Sonne. This wrestler will be none other than one half of the current DPW Tag Team Champions, "Bad Boy" Liam Thomson from Edinburgh, Scotland!

Also, this past Sunday Spanish SWA held their third qualification match. Bad Boy had to face a mystery opponent, sent to wrestle him by SWA owner As de Picas. At the show, he revealed "The Chosen One" Judas Archeron as his choice. Even though Bad Boy could not prepare properly for the match without knowing his opponent, he overcame the odds and beat Archeron to become the third man in the three way dance this Sunday at the Barcelona City Hall: La Pulga vs. Lion Mask vs. Bad Boy – only one of these three wrestlers will go to Oslo and represent SWA.

Six weeks til Oslo – Only one more spot available!

Time is running fast and in less than six weeks we will all know who the very first European Cruiserweight Champion will be. The Norwegian Wrestling Federation is already preparing and promoting the show, while promotions from all over Europe try to find their representative for this huge show.

The Super Wrestling Alliance from Spain have already announced a three way match to find their wrestler for Oslo. While La Pulga made it to the final in March defeating Mandril after a Shooting Star Press, it was young highflyer Lion Mask who defeated the much heavier Angelnaut to qualify for the three way dance as well. The third qualification match will take place this upcoming Sunday in Barcelona when Bad Boy will face a mystery opponent, sent to wrestle him by As de Picas. The winner of this match will face Lion Mask and La Pulga on April 24th – also at the City Hall in Barcelona.

While SWA is still looking for their wrestler for Oslo, Fight Factory Pro Wrestling found him. Their 16 man invitational tournament included wrestlers from not only FFPW but also NLW, MSW and BCW as well as dutch PWH. The show started with four four-way-matches with the winners going into one-on-one-Matches in the semi finals and one big final match. In the end it was one of Ireland’s biggest talents in Jordan Devlin who already held the PBW tag team title in Scotland with Sean South and 17 year old sensation B. Cool who faced off in the finals. B. Cool, who had a bye in the semi finals as his scheduled opponent Insano couldn’t make it when he was injured by B. Cool’s tag team partner D. Max, was the much fresher man and surprised the much more experienced Devlin pinning him in the middle of the ring for the unquestionably biggest success in his young career.

Fight Factory Pro Wrestling kindly uploaded the final match which took place in the FFPW Gym in Bray, Ireland for your viewing pleasure:

Of course UEWA is always open to aspiring European promotions from countries who are not already covered by the UEWA yet so feel free to contact UEWA through www.uewa.eu.

Zackariel representing Norway in Oslo! // SWA and FFPW announcements!

This past Saturday, the Norwegian Wrestling Federation held a four man tournament to find their wrestler for the European Cruiserweight Tournament in Oslo. In the first semi-final, T-Jay was able to overcome the challenge of William Fevik while the former dancing sensation Zack Arild surprised ten year veteran Daniel Sebastian in his comeback match. Prior to the show, Arild announced his dancing days belong to the past and people can expect him - now wrestling under the name of Zackariel - to be more focussed now as the European Cruiserweight Championship is a big goal for him. His new attitude paid off as he was able to beat T-Jay, who many thought would win the tournament,  and become the sixth wrestler to qualify for Oslo.

The Norwegian Wrestling Federation was kind enough to upload the final match on YouTube for your viewing pleasure:

Spanish UEWA-member SWA already announced their qualification match for April 24th. The first wrestler in this match will be 19-year-old La Pulga who was successful on march 20th in Barcelona, Spain, when he defeated Mandril in the first semi final match. The second wrestler to be competing for SWAs spot will be found on April 3rd, when Lion Mask will go one on one with Angelnaut, also at the City Hall of Barcelona.

Last not least, irish Fight Factory Pro Wrestling have announced a tournament for April 3rd to find Ireland’s wrestler for Oslo. It is an open invitiational tournament wrestlers from all over Ireland can apply for as FFPW made sure they do not only want to send the best FFPW wrestler, but the best irish wrestler to Norway. Successful second title defense for James Mason against Tommy Dean – Bad Bones aiming for gold!

The Mason-train is rollin' – After a successful first title defense against Dave Mastiff in England, European Heavyweight Champion James Mason travelled to Wales this past Wednesday to defend his title against "Mean" Tommy Dean. In front of an enthusiastic crowd of almost 450 very vocal fans at the Theatr Elli in Llanelli, Wales, the London-based Mason was able to escape all of Tommy Dean's dirty tricks and could pin The Mean One to successfully defend his gold in his second title defense.

Less than one week ago, "Bad Bones" John Kay was able to defeat Sean South to become the official top contender for the European Heavyweight Title. Almost one year ago, Bad Bones took part in the tournament for the European Heavyweight Title, but got eliminated in the semi final by Erik Isaksen. After hearing Bad Bones as well as multiple discussions within the UEWA, the UEWA has granted Bad Bones request to challenge for the gold in his home country of Germany as he felt he let his people down last April and wants to make up for it. This means, on CWN's next show on may 21st in Pinneberg, "Bad Bones" John Kay will go for gold and challenge the European Heavyweight Champion.

As of now, this means the show will be headlined by James Mason vs. "Bad Bones" John Kay. UEWA would like to confirm, Bad Bones will definitely get his title chance that night even if James Mason should lose the title until may 21st - all challengers for the belt have to agree to take over all title defenses already booked in case they become new champion.

With Wild Boar, "Lightning Kid" Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan three of Wales’ top young cruiserweight wrestlers met in the ring. In the end it was Wild Boar who was, much to the disgust of the 400+ fans in attendance, victorious over his longtime-rival Mark Andrews and the newcomer Morgan to book his ticket to Norway.

Also, newest UEWA-member Fight Factory Pro Wrestling out of Ireland just announced taking the seventh spot in the tournament for the European Cruiserweight Championship. On the next FFPW show on march 26th, FFPW will hold a open invitational tournament for the Irish spot in the tournament – this means, every irish wrestler of 95 kgs and under can apply to FFPW and might get his chance of a lifetime! UEWA still growing: Ireland now UEWA member!

After suffering the losses of Fight Club Finland and Swiss Promotion World Wide Pro Wrestling in 2010, the UEWA family is happy to announce one more promotion joining Europe's Elite.

Fight Factory Pro Wrestling from Ireland is new to the UEWA. The Fight Factory started out as Ireland’s top training school with head trainers Paul Tracey and Fergal Devitt and served as talent for Ireland's then top-promotion NWA Ireland. Ever since NWA Ireland stopped running shows, FFPW took over, holding regular shows as well as big shows in conjunction with No Limit Wrestling and American Wrestling Rampage and showcasing great irish talent like Omen, Dunkan Disorderly, Paul Tracey or Sean 'Maxer' Brennan.

FFPW became UEWA member effectively february 1st, 2011. This leaves the UEWA with ten member promotions from nine countries including Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Scotland and Wales.

James Mason defeating Dave Mastiff, waiting for Tommy Dean and Bad Bones!

On october 2nd, James Mason unexpectedly dethroned Rampage Brown and became the European Heavyweight Champion. After a slow start as a champion, James Mason is really tuning it up in 2011. Last Friday, february 11th, british powerhouse Dave Mastiff known for his incredible strength, roughness and brutality challenged James Mason to a match for the European Heavyweight title. Even though the rules of UEWA would have protected James Mason from doing the title match on short notice, the proud Englishman didn’t back off and was able to pin Mastiff for a successful title defense.

Only twelve days later, as announced before, the next challenge is waiting for Mason when Welsh bad-ass "Mean" Tommy Dean wants his piece of the champion. In Llanelli, Wales, he is going to step in the ring with the champion on february 23rd and trying to get his big break in European Wrestling.

But if this wasn’t enough, the biggest challenge for the technical wizard from London is still waiting, as on february 19th in Greenock, Scotland, the "German Psycho" Bad Bones John Kay defeated Sean South from Ireland to become the official top contender for the European Heavyweight Title. After failing to become part of the European Cruiserweight Tournament, this was the second big loss for the Irishman, who was still handicapped with an injured leg, in the past seven days. The full match was recorded by a fan cam and can be watched here:

At this time it is unknown where and when the title match will take place, but being the top contender, Bad Bones will get an offer for a title match taking place within the next six months.

PBW announces their wrestler for Oslo // Next Date for Qualification Match announced!

As already announced, on february 12th Pierre was able to qualify for Oslo and will be proudly representing CWN in the European Cruiserweight Tournament. One wrestler being really upset with the outcome of the match, was Premier British Wrestling's Kid Fite who even had his student Davey Blaze with him to make sure he qualifies for the tournament. Unfortunately for the Scot, Blaze’s interference backfired and he was rolled up by Pierre for the win.

A furious Kid Fite, who is also the owner of Premier British Wrestling, went backstage after the match and had the following to say:

More on Kid Fite can be found at www.youtube.com/kidfitetv .

Now with two wrestlers already qualified and three more qualification matches announced, there are three more spots available. One of these spots will – of course – go to Norwegian Wrestling Federation, the host of the tournament. At this time, it is not known what kind of qualification match will be held or who is going to be part of it, but we do know so far, the match is going to take place on march 26 at the Kanonhallen in Norway, the exact same location the whole European Wrestling World will look on only two months later. As soon as NWF lets us know about the participants of this match, the UEWA will happily announce them as well.

Pierre qualifying for Oslo // Next Qualification Match announced!

On Saturday night, Tangstedt, Germany, witnessed the first qualification match for the European Cruiserweight Championship Tournament in Oslo on May 21st. In a spectacular four way match between Da Mack, Axel Dieter Jr., Pierre and Kid Fite from Scotland, it came down to Pierre vs. Kid Fite after Axel Dieter Jr. and Da Mack eliminated each other with a double-pinfall. Kid Fite’s plan to take advantage of CWN and send two wrestlers to Oslo representing PBW instead of just one became obvious at the moment, his student Davey Blaze appeared at ringside and tried to help his mentor win the match and go to Oslo. After numerous interferences by Blaze, Pierre escaped another evil attack, moved out of the way and rolled Kid Fite up for a pinfall, making Pierre the first wrestler for Oslo.

After the match, Kid Fite noted he was not happy at all with the outcome of the match and has an announced to make regarding this case. We’re curious to see what Kid Fite has in mind and will wait for his video message said to be published later this week.

Also, irish wrestler Sean South, who set as his personal goal being accepted by the UEWA, was really disappointed. He was supposed to take part in the qualification match for the European Cruiserweight Title, but after suffering a minor knee injury the week before the show and not being able to stick to his daily training routine, he came out at 96 kgs and was not allowed in the match. Now, Sean South is focussed on february 19th where he will be wrestling in Greenock, Scotland against the “German Psycho” Bad Bones with the winner becoming official number one contender to the European Heavyweight Championship currently held by England's James Mason.

On Sunday night in Pavia, Italy, ICW held two semi final matches with the winners having a decision match for the Italian spot on March 12th in Filighera, Italy. In the first semi final, former Italian Lightweight Champion Doblone was successful over masked highflyer Fenice Rossa. Also, on the same show "Il Campione Italiano dei Pesi Leggeri" (ICW Italian Lightweight Champion), Dinamite Jo, was able to overcome Nemesi. Therefore, at ICW Vendetta on March 12th in Filighera, Italy, Doblone will face Dinamite Jo – the winner is going to Oslo!

James Mason defending in Wales! // European Cruiserweight Championship Qualification Match

Welsh Wrestling is going to start the year with a big show at the Theatre Elli in Llanelli, Wales on february 23rd. This show will not only include a title defense of European Heavyweight Champion James Mason, but will also see Welsh Wrestling’s qualification match for Oslo.

  vs.

On february 19th in Greenock, Scotland, the german powerhouse "Bad Bones" John Kay and Sean South from Ireland will fight for the opportunity to wrestle for the European Heavyweight Championship. But who will the winner be facing? Before getting the chance to step in the ring with James Mason, the Londoner has another challenge coming up as on february 23rd in Llanelli, Wales, he will have to face "Mean" Tommy Dean. The welshman has been a mainstay on the welsh wrestling scene for the past five years and is one of the most feared men in Wales today. On february 23rd, he wants to grab the opportunity and de-throne Mason!

But also the Welsh spot in the European Cruiserweight Tournament on may 21st in Oslo, Norway, will be on the line: The 19-year-old sensation "Lightning Kid" Mark Andrews has been drawing a lot of attention lately after having matches in England, Scotland and Germany and attracting interest of many promoters around Europe. He’s surely not the biggest wrestler on earth, but he has proven times and times again that he is capable of withstanding a lot of pain and always has some spectacular moves to finish off his opponents out of nowhere. Ever since appearing for Welsh Wrestling, the Lightning Kid has been in a feud with his arch-enemy Wild Boar. The cruiserweight bully from Blaina has been the sensation of 2010 in Wales, coming out of nowhere and leaving a tremendous mark wherever he went. He has wrestled Mark Andrews all over Wales and is leading in the win/loss record. Will Mark Andrews prove the record wrong and advance to Oslo? Or will Wild Boar be able to gain another win over the Cardiff Sensation?

UEWA announces first qualification matches for European Cruiserweight Championship!

As it became well known in the past weeks, the UEWA (Union Of European Wrestling Alliances) is going to bring in the European Cruiserweight Championship for wrestlers up to 95 kgs in 2011 with a big show at the Kanonhallen in Oslo, Norway on may 21st. Some wrestlers are already on the very rocky road to Norway, but who will finally reach Oslo?

The first qualification match will be held on february 12th in Tangstedt (near Hamburg), Germany being promoted UEWA-affiliate Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland. CWN just announced this match as a four way elimination match. Pierre, who is a great cruiserweight wrestler and an even better tag team wrestler alongside Michael Knight in “One Knight In Paris” won a four way dance on CWN’s latest show and is very eager to repeat this victory. Also in the match is the hip hop sensation out of Hamburg Da Mack who was very close in winning the aforementioned four way dance but lost after being caught by Pierre with a second rope Schwein~. Third man will be Kid Fite from CWNs partner promotion PBW out of Glasgow, Scotland. As most will know, Kid Fite is one of the few wrestlers who is running his own company but never gets in the ring for his own promotion. Still he wouldn’t let the chance of going to Norway pass him by and asked CWN for a spot in the match which was granted. Wrestler #4 will either be Sean South of Dublin or Axel Dieter Jr. of Hannover. Sean South desperately wants the spot in this match, but is still at 99.3 kgs which makes him too heavy for the match. He swore to CWN he will do anything in his power to make the weight limit in time. If he doesn’t, Axel Dieter Jr. will be the one to complete the match.

Only one week later in Langa, Denmark, the second wrestler will be qualifying for Oslo when Danish Pro Wrestling is holding a four man tournament with four of their best cruiserweight wrestlers. Sonne who was trained in the USA before moving back to Denmark has made a name of himself lately as he came out of nowhere and is now on top of the Danish Light Heavyweight division.  Also in the tournament will be 22-year-old Raptor who recently became a member of the faction “Offline”. And his chances to win the tournament are not bad as his partner in “Offline”, Thorn will also be in the tournament. Will both help each other to succeed and go to Oslo? There’s one more person who wants to avoid this: Lars "The Shooter" Schjotler who is the fourth man in this mini-tournament.

Things are shaping up and more qualification matches will be announced shortly here at uewa.eu
